A dream bedroom makeover come true

Nine-year-old Doris is fighting a rare illness called Hypopituitarism. When she turned to Make-A-Wish® UK, she wished to have a butterfly-inspired bedroom makeover.

Doris had two very important things on her wish list for her bedroom: butterflies and a princess curtain around her bed. A plan was drawn up with all of Doris’ ideas and much more! However, the plan was only shared with Doris’ parents to keep the magic of the makeover a secret until the bedroom was finished. On the day of the big reveal Doris’ parents organised a big celebration, complete with a butterfly cake!

Doris is absolutely over the moon with her new bedroom! Everything on her wish list was ticked off plus much more! Of course, butterflies are everywhere. A delicately embroidered butterfly curtain hangs from her new bunk bed, making Doris feel like a princess from morning to night, while beautifully painted cherry blossom trees as well as a fluttering cascade of 3D butterflies climb the walls. The butterfly garden design continues with grass textured flooring and painted grass effect around the skirting boards.

A princess needs a place for her dresses and shoes and our bespoke fitted sliding wardrobe made that happen. The sliding wardrobe features ice white glass and white finishes with personalised storage to Doris’ needs; a lower rail that she can easily reach, a shoe cascade and a pull out mirror. A gorgeous selection of furniture complements the room including a desk, dressing table and chaise longue, perfect for a princess to do her homework, relax and get ready for the day.

Doris loves her new room! She keeps touching everything to make sure it's real. And she couldn't sleep all night because she was so excited!

How we did it

3D butterflies were attached by hand to the walls and celling
Ornate chaise longue on top of grass effect flooring, keeping the butterfly garden theme
Even the lamp shade got the butterfly treatment!
