With three children in tow, storage is a god-send for Claire and her family. So, when they moved into their new home, they were keen to take their space under the stairs from display until to handy cloakroom.
With a large hallway and nowhere to hide shoes and coats discreetly, Claire had her sights set on making more of the space under her stairs.
Her hunt to find the perfect storage solution wasn’t all plain sailing, she tells us: “I originally got a quote from a carpenter which was really pricey”.
Wanting more value for her money, she looked into Sharps: “I saw the Sharps TV ad, so went to the Sharps website and saw Mrs Stock’s case study who had understairs storage fitted. That made the decision for me!”

After a successful free home design visit, Claire then met with her surveyor: “He went into so much detail and asked lots of questions to ensure everything would work for us”. She told him all about how she didn’t want a sharp right angle on the end of the run of storage: “It’s next to the kitchen door, so I didn’t want to block off the entrance”.
The perfect practical and stylish solution, Sharps decided to fit a 45-degree angled door. This created a softer look and left the area in front of the kitchen door more open. For the look and feel of her new understairs storage, Claire opted for our Manhattan range in stone. With a muted colour palette in her hallway and an existing shelf above her kitchen door and next to the space under the stairs, she wanted something that would blend in. And with sleek, discreet storage in mind, she opted for push catch doors: “They gave lovely clean lines”.
Claire opted for hanging and shelving throughout: “We needed somewhere to hang the kids’ coats and hide their shoes”. The 45-degree angled cupboard came in handy storage-wise along with practicality reasons, Claire tells us: “The angled cupboard houses everything without a home, like chargers and devices”.
With her storage problems solved and a new, stylish cloakroom to keep her kids’ belongings beautifully organised, it’s safe to say Claire was impressed with her whole Sharps experience. She added “Steve was our fitter and he was great!”. In fact, she was so impressed that she came back to Sharps to transform her three children’s bedrooms.
