Mrs Hopkins's Story

The Brief

Mr and Mrs Hopkins have lived in their smart four bedroom detached property in the pretty Kentish village of Eynsford since 1988. A new build when they moved in, the couple have always been keen decorators and enjoyed keeping the house up-to-date over the years.

They’ve lost count of the number of times they’ve redecorated their master bedroom, but the couple always hated the look of the sliding wardrobes that were installed when their house was built. The mirror was cheap quality and they were forever falling off their runners.

When the room needed decorating again, they decided to get rid of their now rather old and rickety mirrored sliding wardrobes, and go for smart fitted wardrobes along both walls. The couple opted for something that matched their existing Queen Anne style bedroom furniture that provided extra storage and a home for their 27 years of possessions.

We have lots of things to store, so my main objective was to find wardrobes that were well designed inside, but on the outside matched my existing Queen Anne style furniture. Mrs Hopkins

The Solution

The couple had a Sharps bedroom in one of their previous properties, and had been happy with their experience, so decided to visit their local showroom. They liked the styles, quality and service on offer and when Mrs Hopkins saw the Ascot range, she knew immediately that this was exactly what she was looking for.

The profile of the doors matched the curved design of her Queen Anne style headboard, dressing table and bedside cabinets and she opted for a cream finish with cream handles, as she wanted the room to feel warm, cosy and calm.

How we did it

The Sharps designer recommended a long run of wardrobes with centred mirrored doors across two walls. These were a big hit with the couple who say the mirrors are their absolute favourite exterior feature.

He then set about creating interior storage solutions to meet the couple's every need. These included a 3-tier shoe rack much appreciated by Mrs Hopkins as she says that, getting older, she has better things to do than bend down looking for shoes! While her husband appreciates his belt storage and pull down, pull out trouser rack as they help keep everything neat and tidy and at hand.
