Since purchasing her Victorian terrace back in 2017, Melissa Ritchie has been documenting her renovation journey on her website, Little Terraced House.
Since then, she’s wowed her audience with the transformation on social media, blending her eye for contemporary style with the home’s period features.
When it came to her dining room, Melissa needed storage that would do just that - complement its unique Victorian character but bring it right up to date.
We were only too happy to help her add her own unique spin to her space.

Q&A Melissa Says:
Why did you choose Sharps?
I liked the style of the cabinets and the colour range. I liked that it was a complete service - i.e. no painting and finishing at the end.
Tell us about your design visit?
I enjoyed the design visit and it was good to be able to work out the right design to fit the space and see it mocked up.
What was the main issue that you were trying to solve with Sharps fitted furniture?
We wanted to make the best use of limited space and maximise storage in a stylish way.
Were there any awkward spaces in your room?
The alcoves themselves aren’t especially awkward (though not completely straight being an old house) but there were some exposed pipes in one, and the built-in bookshelf has hidden these, which is great. It’s really good that the pipes could be worked around as it looks much neater now.
How would you describe your interior style and how does your finished design reflect this?
My interior style is probably best described as transitional: we decorate in-keeping with the period features but using modern colours like Willow Green brings it into the 21st century.
What do you love most about your Sharps furniture?
I like that we now have plenty of storage that really looks beautiful. The furniture is a key feature in the room and looks really classy.
What is your favourite part of your fitted furniture?
My favourite features are the lighting, especially in the display cabinet, and the brass handles. I like the little touches like the back plate that comes with the Elizabeth handle as it really elevates the overall look.
What are you most looking forward to making beautifully organised?
The cabinets are predominantly for drinks as my partner collects whisky, and I love styling the shelves with his bottles (they aren’t for drinking, just for looking at!) and collection of whisky glasses of all different sizes and shapes! Plus the cupboards at the bottom are very handy indeed for hiding away the less aesthetically pleasing bits and bobs around the house!

I think the furniture is great value for money considering the finish and longevity. I like the ethos of finding a solution for whatever quirky space dilemma you have. Plus there’s a colour and style for everyone so I don’t think you can go wrong really!
