Hannah styled the most recent photo shoot for Sharps and explains how she created the 'marbled' look in a bedroom setting.
What were your initial design thoughts around this range of white wardrobes?
I love the simplicity of the white sliding wardrobes and wanted to design a clean minimal space that complemented them.
What made you choose wallpaper?
Wallpaper can be seen as quite fussy and traditional so I wanted to use it in a fresh, contemporary way that worked with this minimal vibe. There are lots of new and interesting wallpaper prints out there that mimic different materials. In this case I chose marble as its such an elegant, timeless stone. The oversized print of the paper, from muralswallpaper.co.uk, gave it a contemporary edge.
Other elements in the room
I knew a super simple industrial floor would off set the white wardrobe doors and marble print wallpaper, so went for a poured pale concrete, which is very aspirational. The very simple long panel windows echoed that unfussy simplicity. I accessorised with simple shapes and clean lines to continue the theme.
How did you decide on the unusual colour scheme?
The wallpaper completely dictated the colour scheme of the room. White, midnight blue and tan became my palette. I used the very dark blue on the upholstered bed and headboard, which is from the Sharps range. The rust orange rug was a perfect match for the tan in the wallpaper, and I also used lots of tan leather accessories in the room to tie it all together.
It was also important to maintain a lot of white in the room, to work with the wardrobes and the white of the wallpaper. Grey is a neutral and will work with any scheme so I knew the flooring and grey concrete accessories would work well.

What tips would you give to successfully create this look?
Choose a metal and use it throughout. Here I used gold, which is quite unexpected against the concrete and minimal vibe, but it gives the room an edge. You can see it in the ceiling down lights, bedside lights, light switches, plug sockets, mirror and even photo frames.
Finally, even with a simple contemporary design, don't skimp on fabrics as they make a bedroom layered and cosy. The rug, full length curtains, upholstered headboard and canvas chair are really important in the scheme.
