Designing an efficient and stylish dedicated home office

How did you find Sharps?

We had heard of them from friends/family who had used them before for fitted wardrobes and dressing rooms. We looked online and browsed their social media pages for inspiration before we made the decision. In the end, we bit the bullet and contacted them for a design appointment to see what they could help us with.

Why did you choose Sharps?

Sharps were at the top of our list; they ticked all the boxes. We researched online and looked at local companies as well as DIY options. We decided for price range, quality and time constraints to go with Sharps, who could design and build it all within the month. They came week 1 of the month and within week 4 it was all fitted. Excellent speedy service.

Tell us about your design visit?

We worked with Chris, our design expert, to create a fully-fitted office, bespoke made, with a media wall and maximised storage space. Chris was very knowledgeable, creative, and enthusiastic about what we were trying to achieve with the space. He accommodated all our needs and he let us design and change in the appointment what we wanted to add or take away from the design. He knew a lot about the process and gave us his recommendations of what he thought would work best in our space. He created a virtual design so we could see everything and what it would look like when it came together.

What was the main issue that you were trying to solve with Sharps fitted furniture?

We wanted to create a fully-fitted home office which contained a media wall for us to have an extra screen to connect devices to. We wanted to add more storage within our home and have a fully functioning desk space to complete our daily work tasks. We wanted storage to store files and important documents. We chose the smallest bedroom in our home and wanted to get the most out of this space. This was possible with Sharps.

Were there any awkward spaces in your room?

Yes, there was. We chose the smallest 4th bedroom in our home, which has a curved ceiling from the roof shape on one side of the room. The room itself isn’t the biggest, so we wanted to maximise storage. We decided to use the media wall on the opposite side so we could achieve what we wanted.

Tell us about your fitting experience?

The fitting experience was very positive and fast, too. It took the men 3 days to get the job finished. The parts were delivered the day before and they were straight on the job. The men who came were very polite and helpful and were there to get the job done to the highest quality. They even went above and beyond and helped wire all the electrics in the correct place and put the bracket and TV on the wall. 

How would you describe your interior style and how does your finished design reflect this?

Our interior style is modern and unique. The office matches the rest of the house, with the colour scheme matching our paint in most rooms and our kitchen theme.  We have a neutral home and now a neutral modern office. We also have a living room media wall, so we wanted a space to relax in the office in case we wanted to have a break and watch TV while doing work.

What do you love most about your Sharps furniture?

I love the quality of all the furniture, the mechanisms, finishes and inserted lighting by Sharps. It really lights up the office in the evening and can now be a space used throughout any time of the day. It all fits together beautifully with all the extra storage space we now have.

What is your favourite part of your fitted furniture?

Media wall with the shelves and cupboards with all the space. The quality of the furniture is top rated and is built to last. It all looks very smart, and we can’t wait to get working and using our office for a very long time! It's just the perfect space we needed.

What are you most looking forward to making beautifully organised?

Our office is now beautifully organised, it being used just how we wanted. We both make a lot of use out of the space daily. We have pull-out storage which stores everything we need. Our office is really coming together, nice and organised, and we are making it our own. 

Why would you recommend Sharps?

I would recommend Sharps because of their individuality to specialist projects. We couldn't find any other company that could design and build to what we wanted. The service and workmanship were outstanding with the aftercare since being excellent too. We would recommend Sharps in a heartbeat. We are now considering using them for our second bedroom for our fitted wardrobes, so we have asked our design fitter Chris to call back in a few months to come and quote. The whole process is quick, easy and efficient. Everyone knows how life can be manic and Sharps made sure their process is not that. Sharps made the process stress free! Communication was excellent. We were kept informed every step of the way.
