From handbags to an en suite

Amanda wanted to build a walk through wardrobe to hide her en-suite, so she approached Sharps for a design consultation. With her expertise and love of all things interior, Amanda had her heart set on what her dream wardrobe would look like. And it’s fair to say that Sharps brought her vision to life.

From first design to final fit, interior designer, Amanda Buckley, talks us through her seamless experience with Sharps. “As an interior designer, I’m always reading home interest magazines, which is where I fell in love with Sharps. I knew I wanted fitted wardrobes as they blend effortlessly into any room.”

Having recently moved from Dubai with her family and with their belongings en route, storage was a must. Without any wardrobes, Amanda’s new home was calling out for some much-needed pampering, which Sharps were more than equipped to do. “The house hadn’t been touched for 40 years, so we had a big renovation project on our hands. One of our main priorities was to get the wardrobes sorted so that we had somewhere to store our clothes.

With plenty to sort in a new home, Amanda was after a company who could take the reins, “We had so much else to do on the house that we just wanted someone to come in and do the whole thing”. And with years of expert knowledge, Amanda had her own wardrobe vision from the get-go, “When the designer came round, I knew exactly what I wanted him to draw for me.” And that’s exactly what we did.

At Sharps, we work with you to design and fit a wardrobe that ticks every box and meets every need, no matter how unique. And Amanda’s dream wardrobe was no exception. She had a few specific requirements that we were more than happy to make happen. “I wanted wardrobes along the whole wall to hide the door to the en suite, as well as shelving above the en suite opening which is the perfect space for all of my handbags. My kids call it the Narnia wardrobe!

“I decided to go for the Shaker range in stone because I already have Shaker style pieces that I love. I wanted wardrobes that were classic and neutral so that they won’t ever date. I opted for a softer colour that would blend with the rest of the room and matte-finished nickel handles which are classic and match my bedside lamps and light fittings. In terms of storage options, I chose a mixture of full length hanging and lots of shelving.”
