Sloped ceilings can be difficult to design around

But not if you are Sharps…

Sienna approached us to create modern and contemporary bespoke furniture to enhance the overall look of her home and provide storage solutions for their clothes.

With a few awkward spaces and sloped ceilings, Sienna’s characterful home required made-to-measure furniture that maximised space and looked aesthetically pleasing and Sharps were able to do exactly that.

Sienna's Design Expert Says:

“Sienna’s beautiful contemporary home required a Sharps touch to enhance the overall look and to provide her with the storage she and her partner required.

It was important for Sienna’s vision to come to life and for the installation to be modern and in a grey colour for decorative purposes. Sharps were able to deliver a beautiful set of Manhattan wardrobes in Slate with a coordinating chest of drawers. To enhance this further, Sienna opted for a window seat that ultimately became the focal point of the master bedroom.

The Sienna handles were the perfect finishing touch to its modern Manhattan style and helped maximise the contemporary look.”

Q&A Sienna Says:

How did you come to choose Sharps for your wardrobes? Did you see us advertised anywhere / previous customer?

I had heard of Sharps through TV and magazine adverts so I was fully aware of what Sharps are famous for. I was always really impressed with the range of choices Sharps had to offer and the ability to design your wardrobes/storage from scratch is something I’ve always dreamed of. In my previous home, I had built-in wardrobes; however, I never got to design them to my specification, so as soon as I moved into our new home I contacted Sharps for a visit.

Why did you decide to get fitted wardrobes in your home?

The main reason we decided to get fitted wardrobes was due to the style of our house. To add character to this unique building we have very sloped ceilings so having standard standalone furniture we knew would always be an issue for us. It was also one of our main priorities when we moved into our home so that we had somewhere to store our clothes.

How was your design appointment?

The design appointment was fantastic, as my vision just came to life and much more. Walter was so easy to talk to and happily listened to all my ideas and opinions and seemed to easily understand the exact look we were going for. I told him how I wanted a wardrobe down one side of the room in our dressing room and a row of chest of drawers in our master bedroom under the Velux window to be able to make the most of the space that we had. What I’m most grateful for is that he offered up the idea of the window seat and we’ve never looked back. It’s now the focal point of our master bedroom and just so beautiful, everyone talks about it.

Why did you choose the Manhattan range in Slate?

After going through the Sharps brochure about 100 times, we always kept going back to the Manhattan range as we wanted the wardrobes to reflect the style of the house which is a modern/minimalistic new build. I always dreamed of a contemporary style for my home and with it being such a simplistic design I had the ability to decorate around it so easily.

We chose the colour slate very easily. I’ve always been a grey home lover and again due to the style of our house, it was a must to have a contemporary colour. The furniture we had already was a light grey colour so in order to have added some depth to the room we chose the colour slate.

The Sienna handles we chose for two reasons: one because we saw them in the brochure and loved them straight away, and the second because they matched my name!

The fabric of our window seat we actually chose to match the bedding we had just bought as the effect of the fabric (pastiche crush slub ice) was exactly the same. In addition to this, we loved how the colour reflected with the light and with the window seat being situated right under the Velux window, it was a match made in heaven.

We chose to have mirrors down the two middle panes of the wardrobes for two reasons – to reflect light because it’s quite a small room and having a built-in wardrobe would have made it a little smaller and because who doesn’t want full-length mirrors to see if their outfit goes together!

What interiors did you choose for your wardrobes?

My partner and I wanted a side of the room each, but still wanted the wardrobe to be symmetrical, so we opted to have long rails on both ends so I could hang up long dresses and my partner had storage for suits. We also had room for storage at the top due to the sloped ceilings. In the middle, we opted for blocked shelving split down the middle again so my and my partner had half, and two levels of shoe shelves one for me and one for my partner. As we already had the chest of drawers in our bedroom we didn’t need any detailed interior drawer units so having just standard shelving meant we had open options so I could store handbags as well as bedding, suitcases etc.
