Letting no space go to waste

Sally Conran is an interior designer who specialises in both high-end residential homes and commercial projects, including boutique hotels, bars and restaurants. Based in North West London she has built a reputation for refined interiors with a quiet sense of luxury.

As someone with a discerning eye, she wanted to bring this same level of sophistication to her own home renovation project, but there was a potential issue waiting in the wings…

The sloping ceiling in her loft bedroom could have made adding storage difficult, but after being recommended Sharps by a friend, she found just the team she needed to add her beautiful bespoke storage.

Sally's Design Expert Says:

“It was clear from looking at Sally’s loft bedroom that she’d need a bespoke solution to give her the maximum storage possible.

Using our unique Sharps Space+ formula, we were able to reveal her space’s full storage potential, following the contours of her sloping ceiling to capitalise on every millimetre.

Now Sally has storage that does it all. It looks beautiful, it’s effortlessly practical and it saves space too. With push-catch openings paired with our Manhattan doors, it presents a wonderfully crisp, minimalist aesthetic - the ideal match for an interiors expert.”

Q&A Sally Says:

How did you find Sharps?

Sharps were so prompt, helpful, organised and accommodating. They communicated with me at every stage of the design and build of my wardrobe. They were polite and reliable. I thought that their service was really great in every way.

Why did you choose Sharps?

I chose Sharps as they were recommended by a girlfriend who has used them for her wardrobes.

Tell us about your design visit?

The designer listened to my ideas, offered helpful suggestions and gave me time to mull things over without any time pressure.

What was the main issue that you were trying to solve with Sharps fitted furniture?

I wanted as much hanging space as possible for all my clothes and also enough shoe storage. I also needed shelving to store my bed linen and towels. My wardrobes are situated in my new loft bedroom under the eaves. I wanted narrower wardrobe doors to create a sense of height and keep the proportions classically elegant.

Were there any awkward spaces in your room?

The wardrobes slope at one end because they are under the eaves. I was able to discuss with the installer exactly where the top shelf should go under the eaves in order to maximise my storage.

Tell us about your fitting experience?

Sharps were very good at liaising with me via phone calls and confirmation emails prior to installation so that I had a good idea of what to expect in terms of timeframe. The installer arrived on time, was polite and tidy throughout the installation and even finished ahead of schedule. There was very little disruption at all.

How would you describe your interior style and how does your finished design reflect this?

My interior design style is quite architectural, understated and minimal. I chose a warm grey colour called Dove for my doors which ties in with the soft architectural shade of white which I have on my walls. I chose the flat fronted design of the Manhattan range with touch opening for a minimal look.

What do you love most about your Sharps furniture?

I love the way my wardrobes look in my bedroom. I think they look stylish and contemporary and in a soft warm colour. I absolutely love that they have internal lighting and that I can immediately see all my clothes when I open the doors. It has made organising my clothes so easy and getting dressed in the mornings a real pleasure.

What is your favourite part of your fitted furniture?

I think it is probably the pull-out shoe trays. I have never had these before and they really help to keep my shoes tidy and accessible.

What are you most looking forward to making beautifully organised?

Hanging all my clothes, grouping them by type and arranging them by colour too.

What furniture interiors did you choose and why?

I chose mainly double hanging rails as most of my clothes are separates. I like to hang all my clothes (even t-shirts and jumpers) as I like to see my clothes easily and prefer this to rummaging around in drawers. I do have a long hanging section of wardrobe for my dresses too. Then I have shelving under the eaves for storing my bed linen and towels. If at any point in the future I change things around these shelves could also be used for storing clothes such as jumpers and jeans.

Why would you recommend Sharps?

I would recommend Sharps as the process from design right through to installation was completely stress free. I am delighted with the results as I have exactly what I need in terms of storage and they look great too. What’s not to love?
