Making the most of a room with a view

Once the village sweet shop, the house was bought by a builder who transformed it and sold it to the Bennetts. The house had character, but the bedroom fittings and furniture weren’t making the most of the space or the stunning view from the room. Therefore, Ian came to Sharps to help him make the room more organised and incorporate window seat storage.

The brief

The Bennetts had previously called upon Sharps to transform their other bedrooms. “We’d used Sharps twice before, so they were the obvious choice. We loved both of our installations so much, that we decided to fit Sharps furniture in our son Harry’s room.

Harry’s room had one built in wardrobe (that came with the house) and two chests of drawers making it look messy and cluttered. And it certainly didn’t utilise all of the space they had.

The solution

The chosen range was Henley in stone because of its classy colour and versatile design, plus their son Harry really liked it.

The bedroom was designed by Colin Wilkinson who helped the Bennetts create a design that went beyond standard fitted wardrobe furniture. They wanted to make the most of the stunning view from the window, and therefore worked with Colin to incorporate a window seat into the design. The Bennetts also wanted to de-clutter the room and ensure there was a home for everything to be stored away!

  • Double and single hanging rails
  • Window seat to make the most of the view

How we did it

When it came to fitting the final design, the Bennetts specially requested the same fitter they had had previously. “We’d had a fitter called Carl who worked on our past Sharps projects. He was so good that we requested him to come back.”

The installation included shelving to house the TV, double and single hanging rails to store all of Harry's clothes and a window seat to make the most of the beautiful view!

A combination of satin nickel cup handles and mushroom nickel knobs were used on the wardrobes, window seat and bedside tables. The Bennetts also chose Harrow Crush Velvet Duck Egg fabric as a finishing touch for their window seat, which matched perfectly with the wall colour.
