In her own Victorian property, Gemma’s bedroom was ready for a revamp. All of her clothes were hung on temporary rails or stored higgledy-piggledy in boxes because of a lack of storage. And this chaotic clutter was making it tricky to create a relaxing environment.

Q&A Gemma Says:
How did you find Sharps?
I found Sharps online and through social media platforms when I was looking for wardrobe inspiration for my bedroom. I’d heard of them many times before as I know they are a reputable brand well-known for high quality fitted furniture.
Why did you choose Sharps?
I love the versatility that Sharps offer and how they can cater to your exact design style. I could see from the website that Sharps offer a range of designs in varying styles, whether that be contemporary or traditional, which was perfect for me as I wanted elements from both.
Tell us about your design visit?
My surveyor was extremely attentive to putting my ideas into a 3D visual so I could see how it would look in the room. The visit lasted approximately 2 hours during which they thoroughly measured the space, showed me all the samples and colourways they had to offer, as well as working with me until we’d determined the perfect layout.
What was the main issue that you were trying to solve with Sharps fitted furniture?
We had previously only had clothes rails for a wardrobe, which was quite honestly a nightmare! I was constantly feeling like I was trying to tidy to keep on top of the clutter and it would also make for a stressful night’s sleep as the bedroom didn’t feel like a relaxing space at all. Most of the time our clothes would end up in piles on the floor or unorganised in boxes.
Were there any awkward spaces in your room?
Our bedroom is a typical Victorian layout with a bay window, chimney breast with two alcoves each side. We also have original coving which we were nervous would be an issue because it would mean the wardrobe height would not be able to go up to the ceiling. This wasn’t the case at all! Sharps were so careful with working around the coving without causing it any damage and fitted the wardrobe snugly around it. The joins are immaculate and make it feel well-designed and bespoke.
Tell us about your fitting experience?
Our installer was so, so lovely, and the overall fitting experience was completely stress-free. On day one, Steve arrived and immediately protected our wooden floorboards with padded floor pads so as not to cause any damage. At the end of each day, he kindly tidied and hoovered the room and put it back into a state so that we could still sleep in there each night.
I was so impressed with the quality of build and craftsmanship and I could really tell that his 20 years of experience in the company had become a passion of his. Our build took just under 3 days to complete, which I was very impressed with considering he had some tricky cuts to make around our coving. By the end of day 3 the wardrobe was complete and the room thoroughly tidied and put back to normal – if it wasn’t for the beautiful new wardrobe, you wouldn’t have even known that he was there!
What do you love most about your Sharps furniture?
We live in a Victorian property, so it was important to do the house justice and enhance the traditional features in the room. We opted for traditional shaker style drawers but added modern brass handles for a contemporary twist. I also, of course, LOVE all the additional storage that we massively lacked before. Our day to day lives feel far less chaotic now and the fact that everything is organised and has its own space has dramatically changed the overall feel and ambience in the room. I’m so glad to see the back of those untidy clothes rails!
What is your favourite part of your fitted furniture?
My favourite part of the fitted furniture is most definitely the drawer dividers. I’ve used them to neatly store all my jewellery and makeup which is a huge help as now I can see everything laid out neatly. Before it was just thrown into boxes and I would struggle to find things. Tom is also very much enjoying the drawer dividers as well as the extra hanging rail for his trousers.
What are you most looking forward to making beautifully organised?
I’ve already very much enjoyed spending time organising and titivating all the additional storage. The drawer dividers were without a doubt the most satisfying! I spent some time finding nice storage baskets and boxes to fill the cubby holes with and have displayed some of my most favourite, colourful shoes and bags that sit proudly on the shelves. It really does make all the difference. Tidy house, tidy mind!

From start to finish, Sharps were incredibly helpful and attentive to make our dream wardrobe come to life. I really couldn’t rate the overall experience any higher! Both our surveyor and installer had extensive knowledge about the product which took all the stress away from our minds as we knew that we were in safe hands.
